As the official yogurt sponsor of the Boston Marathon, we think the connection between healthy food and healthy families is an important one. To help celebrate that connection we’ve selected several inspirational bloggers – who happen to be moms that run – to participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon as members of Team Stonyfield. We couldn’t be more excited to be represented by such remarkable women who share our passion and mission.
Along the way leading up to the marathon, Team Stonyfield will be sharing their experiences – from balancing parenting and running schedules, to creating delicious recipes while staying on track for the big race. They’ll be guided by fellow team member and trainer, Megan Searfoss, founder of Run Like A Mother®, who will be sharing her experience, too! Megan Searfoss from Run Like A Mother
I’m a wife and mother of three daughters and author of See Mom Run (December 2014), who learned to run because I found it an inexpensive, time saving and mostly MIND saving exercise. After 20 years and more than 20 marathons and numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, and triathlons, I started Run Like a Mother, a national 5K race series designed to encourage women of all levels and abilities to experience the gift of running as a means to finding balance in their lives. We offer support, motivation, inspiration and education to fuel a woman’s journey toward health and wellness.
I am a runner and a mom—4 times over. I love my kids. And they say and do ludicrous things more often than I like to admit. It’s rarely funny while it’s occurring; but, telling the story back, I am able to recognize and appreciate the funny in it. I run because I’m still faster than my first son… though not for long. I run because I can still run farther than my second son… but he’s quickly closing that gap. I run because my third son wants me to run after him, embrace him, and shower him with the kisses and tickles that only a mom can give. I run because my fourth son knows only one speed… fast… and it falls on my shoulders to chase him. I run because I’m still out to impress that boy I fell in love with 20 years ago. This is the good stuff that I don’t want to forget. And I will forget it, if I don’t write it down. Which is why I choose to share my stories.
