As a company, Stonyfield is distributed nationally but helping farmers close to our home in New Hampshire has always been important to us. That is why we partner with NOFA-NH. This year, NOFA-NH gave Stonyfield their Partner of the Year Award and we couldn’t be more excited. Britt Lundgren, Stonyfield’s Director of Organic and Sustainable Agriculture, received the award for Stonyfield on January 31st, 2015.
“In the past couple of years Stonyfield has reenergized our focus on working with farmers in this region, so it’s nice to be recognized by a group that’s been doing that for so long,” said Lundgren.
NOFA Northeast Organic Farming Association seeks to promote healthy food and organic farming. They have chapters in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. NOFA provides information via conferences, classes and farm tours to help promote sustainable and environmentally safe farming practices for a cleaner world.
“Our missions are similar – helping to support and educate NH Farmers and citizens about organic farming practices in order to maintain and better the health of land and people,” said Stacy Purslow, a volunteer for NOFA-NH and NH Farm to School Coordinator at the UNH Sustainability Institute. “We are grateful to Stonyfield for helping to sustain our work through the years and look forward to continued alliance.”
“We have a long history of working with and supporting all of the NOFA’s. Stonyfield’s co-founder Gary (Hirshberg) actually met his wife Meg at a NOFA conference – I think it goes to show how long we’ve been a part of NOFA, before there was even a Stonyfield,” said Lundgren.
