Apple Nachos with Stonyfield Greek Yogurt

I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love nachos. Crunchy chips layered with creamy, salty and flavorful toppings – really, what’s not to like?

A couple years ago, when I needed a quick, kid-friendly snack for a playdate with some other preschoolers, I came up with a sweet-but-healthy take on nachos: Apple Nachos! This simple yet unique snack was such a hit with both the kids and adults that we’ve been making them regularly ever since.

In this recipe, apple slices and a yogurt drizzle take the place of chips and cheese, then you just pile your favorite crunchy toppings and serve. It’s easy, fun and can be customized to suit your family’s tastes. It’s also a great game-day snack for football season when you’re entertaining.

If you want to make these a little more dessert-like, replace the honey with caramel sauce and top with nuts and chopped dark chocolate. For a heartier snack, whisk a little nut butter into the yogurt along with the honey. Whichever way you decide to enjoy these Apple Nachos, I think you’re going to love them!

Apple Nachos with Greek Yogurt Drizzle
Makes 2 adult, or 4 kid-sized servings

2 Large apples, thinly sliced
1 cup Stonyfield plain Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Chopped nuts of any kind
Raisins or dried cranberries
Shredded coconut, coconut flakes
Any other topping you desire

In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, honey and cinnamon. Place in a squeeze bottle, or in a sandwich-sized plastic bag with one small tip cut off, and set aside.
Arrange apple slices on a plate, just as you would with tortilla chips if making traditional nachos.
Squeeze the yogurt sauce over the apple slices, then top with your favorite nuts, coconut, dried fruit, chocolate chips, etc.
Serve and enjoy!
