Nutritional benefits
A growing body of research is showing that organic fruits and vegetables are more nutritious than their nonorganic counterparts.
While nonorganic farmers use pesticides and chemical fertilizers that kill soil life, organic farmers nurture soil life, creating rich, well-balanced, living soils that produce strong plants and more nutritious foods.
Studies have found organic fruits and veggies to contain, for example, up to 30% more antioxidants, which promote immune and heart health. Research has also shown organic milk to have more omega-3 fatty acids, which the modern diet dangerously lacks, nutritionists tell us.
Through our Stonyfield Greener Cow Program—which we undertook in order to research the reduction of dairy farming’s climate impact—we discovered that cows fed nutritious pasture produce more nutritious milk that’s higher in omega-3s.
