We know...we know how hard it to keep up that exercise routine during December festivities and New Year's madness! Even if you can't keep it up, it's good to have a plan--for the new year and after all the craziness, if nothing else. Here's one that we think serves as a great guideline, brought to you by the folks at the American Heart Association. They call it their "F.I.T." formula--Frequency. Intensity. Time.
Frequency: Exercise on most days of the week; at least four.
Intensity: Get your heart rate up beyond normal for at least 30 minutes.
Time: 30 minutes of heart-pumping exercise each day is ideal. Don't forget to add in time for warming up, cooling down and stretching.
Take a look at all the exercise tips offered by the "Healthy Lifestyle" section of the American Heart Association. The website is full of free stuff, including exercise and food logs.
