Book's Earth Impact

The Wanner Family Dairy Farm was founded in 1840 and has been operated by seven generations of the Wanner family. It is home to 600 milking cows and is operated today by Alfred Wanner and his two sons, Matt and John. To read more about their methane project, click here.

How We Estimated the Emissions

The greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the book production were calculated based on the type and amount of paper used in the book and jacket, the content of recycled fibers in the papers used, the energy used to print the book at the production facility, and the energy used to ship the book from the production facility to the distribution centers. From this information, we calculated the resulting emissions so that we knew exactly what it was we wanted to mitigate.

Based on that information, we then invested in the Wanner Family Dairy farm methane project to support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that their efforts are achieving. The scale of our investment in their project is comparable to the emissions of the book.
