Reusing milk cartons? It’s for the birds.
In 2010, we teamed up with Audubon to help teach kids about reuse and to spread the word about how climate change is affecting backyard birds.
Since July of 2010, our milk cartons have featured Audubon info about the effects of Climate Change on common birds like robins, Goldfinches and bluebirds. Audubon challenged its centers to collect as many proofs of purchase (UPC bar codes) from these cartons, and we donated $5,000 to the winner: Audubon Greenwich.
Audubon also encouraged kids to reuse their milk cartons by turning them into birdfeeders, and to then enter photos of their creations for exhibit on Audubon.org. The folks at Trinity River Audubon Center received the most birdfeeder submissions, and we awarded $5,000 to them too.
