TerraCycle
Turning waste into new products
Using waste materials like used yogurt cups, drink pouches and energy bar wrappers, TerraCycle makes affordable, eco-friendly products ranging from tote bags and purses to shower curtains and kites. By “upcycling” waste into useful products, the company keeps thousands of tons of waste from landfills.
In partnership with TerraCycle, we helped create the “Yogurt Brigade,” a program that collects used yogurt cups from schools and nonprofits nationwide. From our used yogurt cups, TerraCycle has made planters and vegetable growing kits.
TerraCycle was founded in 2001 by then 19-year-old Princeton freshman Tom Szaky. Tom wanted to create a profitable business that’d be good for both people and the planet. And he did just that.
A winner of multiple awards for responsible business practices, TerraCycle is one of the fastest-growing eco-friendly manufacturers in the world, selling its products through major retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, The Home Depot, OfficeMax, Petco and Whole Foods Market.
