What they do
Reduce overall water consumption while maintaining the superior quality of Stonyfield.
Goals
- Cut overall plant wastewater volume by 5% annually for 10 years.
- A 20-year stretch of zero discharge from the waste treatment plant to sewer by 2030.
Achievements
Prior to the team being formed, an informal group focused on optimizing cleaning processes to reduce/reuse water. Due to their efforts, Stonyfield reduced wastewater discharged from the Yogurt Works (i.e., wastewater flow) by 17% from 2007 to 2008.
