You already know that yogurt is a highly nutritious food that provides calcium, protein, and many vitamins and essential nutrients. But did you know that it’s great for your skin, too? In just 20 minutes, you can treat yourself to a quick, at-home mini spa experience. Always use yogurt with live active cultures (ours have six!) and wash your face gently with mild soap first.
For a truly relaxing experience, put on some soft music and find a comfortable place to lie down. To add your own aromatherapy, place some fragrant fruit or a cup of herbal tea nearby.
Exfoliating facial: The lactic acid and enzymes in yogurt can help remove dead cells, exfoliating your skin. Apply a thick layer of lowfat or whole milk plain yogurt to your skin and allow it to sit for 20 minutes. If you like, place cucumber slices to your eyes. The water in them can cool and soothe your delicate eye tissue – plus it’s fun! Rinse with warm water.
Many people add honey to the yogurt, particularly if they have sensitive skin. You can also experiment with other ingredients thought to have skin-health benefits, like papaya, strawberries, avocado and oatmeal. Just remember: always test new facial recipes on the inside of your wrist first, in case you have a reaction.
Have you tried a yogurt facial? We’d also love to hear from you – do you have a great yogurt facial recipe?

We did this in india all the time. My mom used to add turmeric and wheat flour to the yoghurt facial – we never bought face masks – made it at home. Thanks for reminding me of this.
This sounds *nice*! Thanks!
(quick favor: could you swap the i above for an e in ‘rejuvenate’? THANKS!
I’ve never done a yogurt facial before, because honestly, I’d eat the yogurt before I could put it on my face. I LOVE yogurt, wayyy to much to use it on my face. I’d rather have a happy belly
Thanks for the yogurt facial idea. After the kids were asleep my husband and I tried this including the cool cucumbers and enjoyed the quiet. Our skin felt very soft and wonderful after.
