Why Stonyfield Cares
At Stonyfield, conservation has been in our DNA from the very beginning. That's why we're so proud to support the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) as they help save animals from extinction.
These animals need help, with populations that have declined dramatically—making them some of the most endangered animals in the world. Fortunately, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums have thriving populations of some of these species—so you can see them face-to-face and learn what you can do to make a difference.
It starts with AZA's SAFE program. That stands for Saving Animals From Extinction—and it's a way for everyone to get involved. SAFE created a conservation plan that brings together zoos, aquariums and other partners to prevent the extinction of these endangered animals.
Here's how AZA SAFE is helping animals and the planet:
The AZA community focused their planning and conservation on 10 SAFE Signature Species.
Guided by the collective expertise from the staff at hundreds of AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums, they put their best conservation ideas into action.
With over 181 million visitors each year, the AZA has as massive audience to inspire and educate—giving people ways to get involved with protecting endangered animals and their habitats.
Wildlife Care Expertise
The organization's zoos care for 6,000 species of animals—close to 1,000 of which are endangered in the wild—giving the caregivers critical insights on how to best support wild populations.
