Stonyfield Third Annual Earth Day 5K and Fair Set for Saturday, April 20
Life is good becomes partner; fair gets new exhibitors and events; children’s Bunny Hop added
Londonderry, NH (March 11, 2013) – Stonyfield, the world’s leading organic yogurt maker, in collaboration with LOCO Sports, will host the third annual Stonyfield Earth Day 5K & Fair on Saturday April 20th. The event will take place from 10AM to 1PM at the Stonyfield Yogurt Works located at 10 Burton Drive in Londonderry, NH. This family-friendly road race and fair is open to the public so that everyone can join the fun!
What’s new for runners and fair-goers in 2013
After two hugely popular races including a sell-out crowd last year, runners and walkers should sign up early to take advantage of two new offers this year. Life is good has signed on as a partner and the first 1,500 participants to sign up for the 5K will receive a free Life is good commemorative edition 100% cotton t-shirt. The first 1,250 will also get a free ticket to a Manchester Fisher Cats baseball game.
Stonyfield is also thrilled to announce fun new additions to the fair:
· Applegate has joined past exhibitors Pete and Gerry’s Eggs, Pretzel Crisps, Rustic Crust Pizza and more to provide free, healthy food for attendees. See the full list here.
· Runners over the age of 21 will be able to quench their post-run thirst with beer from the Smutty Nose Beer tent. IDs will be required.
· Live music will be provided by Adam Payne who will be sharing his upbeat, acoustic tunes throughout the duration of the fair.
· The children’s race will officially be renamed the “Bunny Hop” with free ‘bunny tails’ to bring attention to the endangered New England Cottontail rabbit.
· Little ones will have a chance to meet Gurt the Stonyfield Cow, Slider from the NH Fisher Cats, Max from the Manchester Monarchs, Imelda from Small Dog Electronics and many other fun mascots, as well as play and learn from a life size whale, known as the whale mobile.
· Kids will also enjoy the exciting interactive exhibits from NH Children's Museum, The Discovery Museum, See Science Center and even a rock climbing wall from Vertical Dreams.
· A dedicated runners’ tent will be on site, complete with three chiropractic practices, and massages for all by Seacoast Career School.
Race Proceeds to Benefit Three Important Causes
In line with Stonyfield’s mission, portions of the race’s proceeds will go to three worthy causes.
In 2008, Stonyfield became the first private land owner to create and maintain habitat for the state-endangered New England Cottontail rabbit. This year, in addition to maintaining habitat for the state’s largest population of endangered rabbits, Stonyfield will be donating a portion of race proceeds to New Hampshire's Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program to help support species conservation efforts.
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Life is good Kids Foundation, which provides training and support to the Life is good Playmakers.
Finally, local Londonderry High School students will receive college scholarships.
Registration and Pricing
The race is being managed by LOCO Sports, a Newmarket (NH) company that operates many of the premier running events throughout the state. Early race registration pricing is $20, then $25 until April 19th. Affordable youth pricing is also available. Race day registration may be available, pending space.
