Powering up on Probiotics

Parenting Magazine

Parenting Magazine wants to help you ward off the flu, and suggests “Powering Up on Probiotics” as a great way of doing so. A recent article titled “Outsmart the Flu” (November 2009) mentions a new study that shows that kids who get a daily dose of probiotics are much less likely to have fevers, colds, bouts of flu, etc. They specifically recommend Stonyfield yogurt and yogurt drinks, since both contain large doses of the immunity-boosting “good bacteria.”

Our Limited Edition Pumpkin Pie–flavored yogurt was recently featured in a “Flavors of Fall” line-up in the November 2009 issue of Parenting Magazine. Sandwiched between a sugar-and-spice sourdough twist and a pumpkinseed flatbread cracker, our festive fall yogurt winds up smack-dab in the middle of the line-up—a great visual of the tasty treat! Editors highlight the uniqueness of a pie-flavored yogurt and suggest that it’s healthier than the typical fall treat, too!

Tasty, Low-Cal Thanksgiving Treat

Family Circle editors just alerted their readers that there is “finally a low-cal Thanksgiving snack—Stonyfield Farm’s Limited Edition Pumpkin Pie–flavored yogurt” (November 2009). In the “Food News” column of the twice-monthly magazine, our seasonal yogurt is highlighted as a tasty low-cal, low-fat snack with only 130 calories. The article also mentions that it has a “great taste, supersmooth texture, and tons of vitamin D and calcium.”

The Daily Buzz

The Daily Buzz recently made their viewers aware of our partnership with LeapFrog—explaining how consumers can receive a LeapFrog book with the purchase of several YoBaby products. “It’s never too early to get kids passionate about reading,” mentioned the newscaster. The thorough mention gave viewers details of the promotion, as well information about the book. The several-minute piece was syndicated on over 162 stations nationwide!

YoBaby Meals, a Drool-Worthy Snack

Our newest addition to the YoBaby line, YoBaby 3-in-1 Meals, was recently featured on the Babble.com blog “Droolicious.” Christine Coppa, author of the blog, tells readers, “Organic and 100% natural, your tot will love this unique meal too—packed with protein, calcium, zinc, vitamins A & D, you’ll feel amazing watching your little one dig in!”  If we’re lucky, there just may be a few million babies drooling for our Meals in the near future!

The Early Show

Celebrity nutritionist Keri Glassman made our Oikos Greek yogurt and Fat-Free Plain yogurts celebrities, too. She sang their praises on an October 12 CBS Early Show segment, telling viewers everything they need to know about choosing the right yogurt. Glassman told the audience her two personal favorites were Greek yogurt and fat-free plain—just as the camera panned over our Oikos and Quart containers. Glassman added, “Organic makes a difference, especially with dairy products, especially if you’re feeding them to kids—as organic dairy has no hormones, antibiotics, dyes, flavors or preservatives.”

A Great Way to Start the Week

According the New York Post, our Oikos Greek yogurt is a great fat-free, low-calorie addition to a healthy weekend diet (October 6, 2009). In the article “Do or Diet,” Sean Foy, author of The 10-Minute Total Body Breakthrough, presents a weekend of recipes aimed at helping people lose weight and kickstart a workout regimen. Our Honey-flavored Oikos Greek yogurt is mentioned as a great Monday morning breakfast.

The Many Benefits of YoBaby

Haven’t heard of Buzzle.com? Well, more than a few folks have! They recently learned how to help their baby gain weight, and one suggestion was feeding baby YoBaby yogurt (October 2009). The website recommends YoBaby because it’s made with whole milk, it’s organic, and it comes in lots of flavors. Perhapsa few million “Buzzlers” will be checking out YoBaby the next time they’re at the market.

A Ridiculously Healthy Snack

Oikos Greek yogurt was recently dubbed “ridiculously healthy” by the folks at Prevention Magazine. In an article titled “25 Ridiculously Healthy Foods,” the magazine’s editors suggest that readers check out Greek yogurt, since it has twice the protein of regular yogurt and contains immune-boosting bacteria. They specifically mentioned Oikos because it’s fat free, has only 90 calories, and offers 15 grams of protein per 5.3 oz serving.

From Trash to Treasure

Our Fat Free French Vanilla cup recently appeared in Self Magazine—surprisingly not for what’s inside the cup, but rather for the container itself (October 2009)! In a feature titled “From Trash to Treasure,” our yogurt cup is pictured with a flower growing out of it—showing the publication’s readers that our partner Terracycle turns yogurt containers into garden pots and sells them at major retailers.

Pregnant women need a lot of extra protein—about 71 grams daily! American Baby editors suggest that moms-to-be “go Greek,” as Greek yogurt offers up to 20 grams of protein per serving! In an article titled "Greek is the Word," editors list their favorites—with Oikos Greek yogurt among them (October 2009). “This nonfat choice has a custardlike texture with just the right amount of sweetness,” mentions an American Baby product tester.

Blueberry O’Soy Sweeps First Place

Looking for a way to get a tasty dose of probiotics? The Vegetarian Times chose our Blueberry O’Soy as the winner in this exact category! In this year’s “Vegetarian Times Foodie Awards,” Blueberry O’Soy swept first place as a yummy probiotic treat—beating several wellness bars, juices, soy milks, and Fage Greek yogurt (October 2009). “Stonyfield Farm O’Soy is just the right blend of creamy breakfast treat and explosive blueberry yumminess,” mentions the article. Our Greener Cow Project was briefly mentioned in the October 2009 issue of Body + Soul Magazine. “The folks behind Stonyfield Farm yogurt are experimenting with their cows’ diet in hopes of producing less-toxic-to-the-environment burps,” mentions the article. Circulation: 462,700.

Help Fight Cancer at Breakfast

Self Magazine recently published an article detailing ways for readers to lighten up their meals and help fight cancer at the same time (October 2009). For a breakfast “meal makeover,” Self suggests readers trade in breakfast burritos for high-fiber cereals, vitamin-packed berries, and all-natural yogurt. Stonyfield Farm is the brand recommended! Low Fat Blueberry Wins First Place

Our Low Fat Blueberry yogurt recently won first place for “Best Flavored” yogurt in a line-up of “Best-For-You, Best-Tasting Yogurts” published in Cooking Light (October 2009). Editors said this yogurt has a “modest amount of sugar, plus bone-strengthening Vitamin D.” With all the mentioned benefits, we hope this magazine’s readers will give it a whirl!
