Vogue journalist Eve Conant reports on the growing prevalence of genetically engineered foods, including the shocking statistics that 94% of our soybeans and 88% of corn grown in the US are genetically modified (May 2012). Gary Hirshberg, Stonyfield’s chairman and cofounder, is pioneering efforts to convince the FDA to label genetically modified organisms. Until science can tell us more about genetically engineered foods, Gary says, "American consumers shouldn’t be forced to be guinea pigs in this grand experiment."
