Stonyfield Farm Named One of the Five Best Large Companies to Work for in New Hampshire
Londonderry, NH (December 2, 2010) - Stonyfield Farm, the world's leading organic yogurt maker, has been recognized as one of the top five large companies to work for in New Hampshire by Business New Hampshire Magazine and NH Businesses for Social Responsibility. By fostering a corporate culture that is greatly mission-driven, the company strives to enable employees to live a healthy lifestyle—both at the workplace and in their lives outside of work.
Since its founding in 1983, Stonyfield has remained deeply committed to healthy food, healthy people, healthy business and a healthy planet. Judges cited several of Stonyfield’s innovative employee programs—including their popular eight-week sabbatical program, “Making a Difference” volunteer hours, employee training hours, and even a Community Supported Agriculture onsite drop-off—as a few of the reasons the company was selected as one of the best places to work.
Company's mission woven deeply into workplace environment
“We’re uniquely driven by our mission. Our employees quickly realize that we don’t just make a delicious, organic yogurt, but that we’re really trying to make the world a healthier place for everyone—including them,” mentioned CE-Yo, Gary Hirshberg. “Our mission has certainly helped create a workplace that we’re proud of, but it’s the employees that make Stonyfield such an extraordinary place to work, and I want to thank them for the incredible work they do every day that made it possible for us to achieve this award,” he added.
Business NH’s selection process is extensive. Members of the magazine’s staff do an initial round of judging on the basis of company culture, employee development, mission statement, and employee statements and benefits, and in turn whittle the field to 20 semi-finalists. One set of judges then conducts site tours for each of the semi-finalists that include meeting with the CEO or president, meeting with employees, and touring the facility. Meanwhile, a second set of judges review all of the semi-finalists’ applications. The scores from the two sets of judges are combined to determine the five large Best Companies to Work For and the five small Best Companies to Work For in NH.
