New TerraCycle Kid’s Growing Kit Uses Upcycled Stonyfield Farm Yogurt Cups

Growing Kits are nearly zero waste and contain everything needed to grow plants

Londonderry, NH—April 12, 2010—TerraCycle, Inc. is proud to unveil three new Kid’s Growing Kits designed for kids to learn about gardening and the environment this spring. The kits, one variety each for Vegetables, Herbs and Flowers, are made with three reused Stonyfield Farm yogurt cups that are filled with an organic potting medium made from TerraCycle’s now-famous “Worm Poop”!

Although TerraCycle prides itself on offering affordable products that have almost no ecological footprint, the Kid’s Growing Kit could be the greenest product TerraCycle has ever produced! The cups are reused Stonyfield yogurt cups, the potting medium is TerraCycle’s Worm Poop, and even the cardboard tray that holds the kit together comes embedded with the seeds needed to grow the plants. Almost no part of this product comes from virgin material, and there is almost no waste left over after use.

The yogurt cups are collected from the Stonyfield Yogurt Brigade^TM, a collection program that pays schools or non-profits three cents for each used cup they collect.
