Milestones
We started as a nonprofit agricultural school on a hilltop farm and evolved into the organic yogurt company we are today. So we’ve done some changing. But we’ve also stayed the same. Right from the beginning, we’ve been committed to healthy food, healthy people and a healthy planet. How better for us to show you Stonyfield’s evolution than with stones? Milestones, that is.
1998
Stonyfield Farm goes online
We start our website at www.stonyfield.com.
Bursting at the seams
We expand our production facility, adding 18,000 sq. ft. to help us meet growing demand for our yogurt.
Multiple organisms guaranteed!
We add two more live active cultures to all of our yogurts (L. casei and L. reuteri). We’re the only US yogurt brand to offer six live active cultures. And we’re the only yogurt brand in America with L. reuteri!

We launch our super-premium certified organic ice cream and switch from plastic pints to more environmentally friendly unbleached paper pints for our frozen yogurt and ice cream.
For kids on the go
We also introduce YoSqueeze, the first all natural yogurt in a tube.
Innovation in recycling
We team up with Recycline® (now Preserve) to make toothbrushes from our recycled yogurt cups.
The little yogurt company that could
Stonyfield Farm moves ahead of Colombo to take the number four position in the Northeast! Nationally, we’re the number five brand.

A unique partnership
We enter into a partnership with the French-based consumer products company, Groupe Danone. This provides cost-saving synergies and continued growing through mission-driven initiatives, and enables Danone to participate in the rapidly growing organic and natural dairy segment.
Health YoSelf
We introduce YoSelf, a scrumptious, highly nutritious lowfat yogurt made especially for women. (We still make lots of tasty, nutritious lowfat yogurts, but no longer make YoSelf.)
Oh, joy, it's soy!
We launch the only organic cultured soy yogurt in a convenient multipack.
Wake up, Washington!
We implement a public relations and internet campaign to educate consumers about the negative effects of the White House’s proposed energy bill. In the process, we teach folks about energy efficiency and show them how they can make a difference!
