Are mothers at war? Apparently the media think so

Two groups--"Mothers Ought to Have Equal Rights" and "MomsRising.org" are trying to raise the bar on the apparent ongoing discussion by big time media about the "Mommy Wars"--where stay-at-home moms allegedly diss paid-workforce moms, and vice versa.

These two groups are banding together for a Mother's Day Campaign and trying to
1) tell the big-time media to shut up already (but they say it a little nicer than that) about this so-called "war" and
2) get on with discussing some of the bigger policy issues, like why mothers (and mothers alone?) must make the hard economic choices between a workforce life and an at-home life when children are born.

This debate is nothing new, but the phenomenon of women bashing other women about the choices they've made in this arena seems like it is. I can't truly fathom one woman criticizing another for her choice. Have, indeed, the media "made up" this "trend"? Write and tell us if you, personally, have been taken to task by another mother for whatever parenting vs work choice you've made. We'd love to hear your stories and, perhaps, share them with other Baby Babble readers. Follow the commenting instructions below to send us your thoughts.

Oh, and just for fun this Mother's Day, why not take the "What are you worth Mother's Survey" sponsored by Mothers Ought to Have Equal Rights." You'll either be tickled pink or ticked off--we're not sure.
