Download my Bio | Get a Quarterly Moosleter ![]() I was born on a beautiful summer day. It was August 8, 2005. I remember feeling the warm sun on me and a slight breeze as I lay in the soft grass of the pasture. My mother, Velveteen, lapped me with her rouge tongue to clean me. Within minutes, I tried standing on very wobbly legs, searching for some warm, sweet milk. I was hungry! At first, my farmer, Linda, fed me from a bottle. It was hard work for her because I am such an aggressive eater. If she didn’t hold on to the bottle tight enough I would pull the bottle right out of her hands. That only lasted for ten days, and then Linda decided to teach me how to drink from a pail. I also starting eating a special grain made for calves. By 6 weeks of age, I switched from milk to water, ate 3 pounds of grain and munched on tender hay. As you can see from my picture, I am darker than most Jersey cows; I get this unique feature from my mother, Velveteen. She was dark with thick fur, just like me.
