St. Albans Co-op Creamery
To support local dairy farmers facing a crisis due to the record low federally set milk prices (similar to what was paid in the late 70's). Farmers are fighting to stay alive but many cannot continue. An Emergency Fund has been set up and is administered by St. Albans to help members pay for farm labor; for manure spreading in fall past due; for family needs; for delinquent taxes; and for past due grain for cows. This infusion of cash will continue to assist more farmers. http://www.stalbanscooperative.com

MALT - Marin Agricultural Land Trust
To support the (MALT) in honor of the work of Ellen Straus - Farmland Protection Pioneer and Organic Dairy Farmer. One of the main tenets of MALT is that agricultural land and the future of agriculture in Marin County are best protected by continued operation of farms by the families that know this business and have been farming for generations. The day-to-day and year-to-year management of farm and ranch operations will always be carried out by the ranchers and farmers themselves.

Their goal is to be partners in stewardship with landowners by providing an option that can help farming families keep their land farmland forever. MALT has acquired development easements on 47 ranches and dairies covering over 32,000 acres -- about a quarter of privately owned farmland in the county. Due to their vision and success, MALT quickly became a model for scores of similar land trusts formed since across the country. http://www.malt.org/

Last year, nearly 1,000 boys and girls attended one of the camp's summer sessions. A few years later, the Merrimack Valley YMCA opened a coed day camp, Camp Otter, in Salem, NH.
