Moos From the Farm
Monthly Gossip

On Earth Day, the nice folks from the bike accessory company Pedro's came to Stonyfield Farm and tuned 30 of our bicycles for free! Thanks, Pedro’s, for helping us get out on our bikes and take better care of ourselves and the earth! We recently held a Stonyfield contest that encouraged employees to walk, cycle, or take public transportation to and from work, instead of driving a car. Contest winner Bill Gauthier, from our Yogurt Works, won a new mountain bike. ● A Stonyfield soccer team recently played in a tournament against teams from other companies including Evian, Dannon, and Nutricia. Helping us to make a respectable showing was VP of Sales Mike Johnson, a former Drew University Hall-of-Fame goalie who stands six-feet-seven.● Through our Making a Difference community service program, a bunch of us Stonyfielders recently volunteered at a nearby organic farm. We cut back bittersweet overgrowth, planted tomatoes, and spread compost. An ice cream lover writes: “My baby daughter has some food allergies and I’ve had to eliminate many things from my diet, including chocolate…. Desperate for some kind of dessert, I settled on a root beer float. I bought a pint of your vanilla ice cream. ...I still haven’t had that root beer float. I can’t bring myself to add anything to your vanilla ice cream, because there’s no way it could possibly improve it!”

Organic NewsOrganic Farming Good for Climate
Experts say organic farming practices can be the most significant way to reduce climate change. Converting all of America’s cropland to organic, they estimate, would have the same carbon-reducing effect as taking 217 million cars off the road.

PeachOrganic Fruit Supply Sometimes Not So Peachy
Last fall, we made our fat free, six-ounce yogurts organic, which made all our products organic. A while later, a shortage of organic black cherries on the market forced us to use fruit puree rather than fruit pieces. Some of our black cherry fans noticed the change and phoned
to see what was up. Read More
