A few weeks ago, one of our natural resources gurus, Lisa Drake, ate dinner with four reps from the British Parliament. The Brits were in New Hampshire to talk climate change with state officials, and Lisa was asked to join the conversation over dinner. Ryder Trucks named Stonyfield Driver Jon Depoian Driver of the Month. Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night keeps this courageous courier from the swift completion of his appointed rounds. (And he ain’t bad with customers neither.) About 50 Stonyfielders participated in our most recent Mission Action Program (MAP) meeting. MAP is our company-wide effort to bring environmental responsibility to everything we do. We’ve begun work on a new, green office building that will feature energy-efficient walls, foundation, roof, and lighting; water-conserving plumbing fixtures; recycled-content carpet and tile; reused wood flooring; and an energy-efficient heating, cooling, and ventilation system. In 2007, Stonyfielders donated time, money, food, and supplies to: American Cancer Society, NH Audubon Society, Salvation Army, CityYear, Animal Rescue League of NH, NH Food Bank, American Lung Association of NH, United Way, Child Health Services, and Meals on Wheels. The folks who keep our Yogurt Works running have worked more than 180 days without time lost to injury. We celebrated this safety feat over a great lunch catered by La Carreta, one of our favorite local Mexican joints. In a recent letter to us, Patrick, a yogurt lover from Minnesota, wrote: “I am very impressed with your corporate responsibility – hopefully a beacon of light for others to follow. Thank you for increasing my optimism for our country.” Thanks for mentioning it, Patrick.
