Fun Facts from Stonyfield Farm
Over the Past 20 Years
April 1983 - April 2003

Recycled over 10 million pounds of materials, preventing them from being
dumped into landfills and incinerators.

Through our Profits for the Planet program donated over $1.6 million to
activities that protect and restore the earth.

Produced over 135 million lids with environmental and educational messages
to inform consumers and motivate them to take action.
Used over 150 million pounds of organic ingredients which means over 20,000
acres were in organic production and did not have toxic and persistent
pesticides
applied to the land.
Donated over 4 million servings of yogurt to community events and food
banks.
Gave
over 5 million pounds of yogurt leftover from our quality control testing
and other yogurt making processes to farmers for feed for hogs. That meant
a lot of happy and healthy pigs and millions of pounds of yogurt kept
out of the landfill.
Saved over $1 million through reducing the amount of energy used to make
yogurt.
Reduced the amount of material used in our plastic cups, preventing the
production and disposal of over 700 tons of plastic.
Informed over 300,000 people about cutting edge news in organic and Stonyfield
Farm's environmental programs through our "Moosletters".

Educated over 40,000 people about life on a family farm by sponsoring
a cow through our Have-a-Cow Program.
Most Creative Failed Marketing Idea In The Past 20 Years: Garden Salad
yogurt, an herb and dehydrated vegetable filled yogurt that was an idea
so ahead of its time that it STILL has yet to be replicated by others.
20 Years of Dressing "Gurt" Up! Gurt, the company cow, has had
numerous face lifts over the past two decades, and has donned cool shades,
a French beret, party accessories, birthday accessories, strawberry sunglasses,
a miner hat and pick, a blueberry monocle, key lime flower, Santa hat,
chef’s hat, and a French mustache. She's a stylin' cow!
